The Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) is a U.S. Department of War effort, supported by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, to find, declassify and publish government records about unidentified anomalous phenomena. It followed a February 19, 2026 statement by President Donald Trump directing agencies to identify and release files on UAP, UFOs and “alien and extraterrestrial life.”[1]

History

The first tranche was released on May 8, 2026, followed by releases on May 22, June 12, July 10, August 7 and September 18, 2026. Files are posted on a searchable database at war.gov/ufo, with videos hosted on DVIDS. They range from 1940s Air Force intelligence files and Project Blue Book records to 2020s military sensor video and, starting with Release 06, reports from local law enforcement.[1]

Scope

PURSUE publishes only unresolved cases, ones where the government says it cannot make a definitive determination, often because of limited data. Resolved cases continue to be reported separately by AARO as required by law. The Department says it welcomes private-sector analysis of the released material.[1]

Reception and criticism

Disclosure advocates have welcomed the steady flow of previously unseen footage. Critics note that a large share of some releases consists of material already public through FOIA, such as the AAWSAP DIRDs, that most new videos lack range or speed data, and some members of Congress have called the timing of releases a political distraction.[2]

This wiki covers each release in the Disclosure Documents section, with an overview page for each release: Release 01, Release 02, Release 03, Release 04, Release 05, Release 06.
