The Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program was a roughly $22 million Defense Intelligence Agency contract awarded to Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS), the research arm of entrepreneur Robert Bigelow, to study UAP and a wide range of related paranormal and anomalous phenomena.
Scope
Unlike the closely related AATIP, AAWSAP’s contracted scope explicitly included non-UAP topics such as poltergeist activity and other paranormal claims, a breadth that later drew criticism when the program’s existence became widely known. Much of its field investigation focused on Skinwalker Ranch in Utah, which BAASS had leased for study.
Legacy
Program officials including James Lacatski and Colm Kelleher later co-authored books describing the program’s findings, though the underlying case files remain largely unreleased, and independent scientific verification of its more extraordinary claims has not been published.
