The Department of Defense announced the formal establishment of the UAP Task Force (UAPTF) under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, tasked with detecting, analyzing, and cataloging UAP reports that could represent potential threats to national security or flight safety.
Assessment
The announcement followed the earlier Pentagon UAP Video Formal Release and growing congressional interest, and it marked the first standing Pentagon office explicitly dedicated to the topic since Project Blue Book closed in 1969. UAPTF was itself superseded two years later by AARO Establishment.
