Multiple independent witnesses, including RCMP officers, reported a large object descending into the water off Shag Harbour with a bright flash and loud noise, followed by a floating yellow foam patch; a Royal Canadian Navy search over the following days found no wreckage.
Assessment
The prompt, formal Canadian military and police response, combined with the multiple credible witnesses and the absence of any recovered debris or identified aircraft loss that night, has made Shag Harbour one of Canada’s most cited and best-documented unexplained UFO cases; it remains formally unresolved.
