Canada’s Department of National Defence, together with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, investigated two of the country’s most significant UFO cases in 1967: the Shag Harbour Incident and the Falcon Lake Incident.
Historical role
Canada’s National Research Council also briefly operated Project Magnet (1950-1954), an early government scientific effort to investigate UFO magnetic-anomaly claims, making Canada one of the few countries with two independent early official UFO investigation efforts.
Current posture
Canada does not currently maintain a dedicated standing UFO investigation office comparable to AARO or GEIPAN; historical case files are held by Library and Archives Canada and have been substantially released through federal access-to-information requests.
