Residents of Colares Island reported repeated nighttime attacks by lights and small craft that left burn-like marks, prompting the Brazilian Air Force to launch a formal, multi-month field investigation involving military personnel and physicians who documented dozens of cases.
Assessment
Part of the resulting Air Force report remains classified, an unusual degree of state secrecy for a UFO investigation that researchers cite as evidence the Brazilian military took the phenomena more seriously than most Western counterparts; no public conventional explanation for the reported physical marks has been offered.
