AARO released the first volume of a congressionally mandated historical review, examining U.S. government involvement with UAP since 1945 and directly investigating whistleblower claims including those made by David Grusch, ultimately concluding it found no verifiable evidence of extraterrestrial technology, crash retrievals, or reverse-engineering programs.
Assessment
AARO stated many claims of secret retrieval programs stemmed from misidentified classified conventional programs, urban legends, and in some cases hoaxes perpetuated within the community of individuals making such claims. Grusch and some other researchers have publicly disputed the report’s completeness and access to relevant compartmented programs, keeping the underlying dispute open even as the report itself is an official, confirmed document.
