Farmers Paul and Evelyn Trent took two photographs of a metallic, disc-shaped object they said passed silently over their farm, images that were reproduced nationally in Life magazine and became among the most iconic UFO photographs of the 1950s.
Assessment
The photographs were treated as credible by several photo analysts for decades, including a detailed 1967 Condon Committee analysis that found no clear evidence of a hoax, though later researchers using digital analysis in the 2000s argued shadow and support-string evidence suggested the object may have been a suspended model. The case remains disputed rather than definitively resolved in either direction.
