Los Alamos National Laboratory was founded in 1943 as the secret Manhattan Project site where the first atomic bombs were designed. It remains one of the main U.S. nuclear weapons laboratories, run for the Department of Energy.[1]
Role in UAP history
From late 1948, staff and security personnel at Los Alamos and other New Mexico sites reported bright green fireballs. On February 16, 1949, the laboratory hosted a conference of scientists, including Edward Teller, to discuss them; the transcript was released in PURSUE Release 04. Release 02 added 1970s UFO correspondence of physicist James Tuck and a 1986 invitation to a talk by Los Alamos physicist John Warren, “Why Should a Scientist be Concerned about UFOs?”[2]
