Sandia National Laboratories began in 1945 as a Los Alamos division on Sandia Base in Albuquerque, responsible for engineering and assembling nuclear weapons. It became a separate laboratory in 1949 and today is run for the Department of Energy.[1]
Role in UAP history
PURSUE Release 02 published 116 pages from the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project and the Air Force listing 209 sightings of “green orbs,” “discs” and “fireballs” near Sandia Base from 1948 to 1950, including tests of copper powder found at some sites. Some of these investigations fed into Project Grudge.[2] Nearby Kirtland AFB was later the setting of the 1980 Bennewitz affair.
