The Western U.S. Event is the name AARO gives to a series of reports by seven federal employees, most of them federal law enforcement special agents, over two days in October 2023 near a sensitive national security site in the western United States. They described “orbs launching other orbs,” a large glowing orb at close range, a pursuit of a large object near the ground, and a transparent object like a “translucent kite.”[1]
Investigation
AARO’s June 2026 update lists the case as unresolved. Despite the lack of technical data, it rates the case “among the most compelling” in its holdings because of the witnesses’ credibility and similarities with other reports. The FBI produced ten digital renderings and two video recreations from the witnesses’ accounts.[1]
Assessment
Classified tests at western ranges (drones, flares, counter-drone systems) are an obvious possibility that cannot be checked without the location and date. See the PURSUE case page for all 20 records.
