| Location | Westall, Melbourne, Australia |
| Type | Mass sighting |
| Status | Unexplained |
An estimated 200–300 students and teachers at two adjacent schools reported watching a silver, disc-shaped object descend into a nearby field, remain briefly, and then depart at high speed, one of the largest mass-witness UFO events on record.
Assessment
Contemporary press reports described military and police personnel arriving quickly to secure the site and discourage further discussion, fueling long-standing suspicion of an official cover-up; no Australian government agency has ever offered a formal, detailed public explanation, and the sheer number of independent student and teacher witnesses makes the case one of the most cited unexplained mass sightings worldwide.
