| Status | Unexplained |
The crew of a U.S. Air Force RB-47 reconnaissance bomber reported an unidentified object tracked simultaneously by onboard visual observation, ground radar, airborne radar, and electronic countermeasures equipment designed to detect hostile radar emissions, as it paced the aircraft across several states before departing at high speed.
Assessment
The case is frequently cited by researchers as one of the best-instrumented UFO reports of the era, given the multiple independent, technically sophisticated sensor systems involved; no conventional aircraft, weather phenomenon, or equipment malfunction has been identified that fully accounts for the correlated readings, and the case remains formally unexplained.
