A roll of undeveloped film anonymously mailed to researcher Jaime Shandera purportedly contained a briefing document describing “Majestic-12,” a secret committee established in 1947 to manage recovered alien technology and remains, later widely circulated within ufology.
Assessment
Forensic document analysis identified anachronistic typefaces, an incorrect signature format for President Truman, and other errors inconsistent with genuine 1947-era government documents; the FBI’s own investigation concluded the documents were likely fabricated, and researcher William Moore, involved in their promotion, later acknowledged involvement in a related disinformation effort. The documents are regarded as forged by the large majority of researchers.
