Security police, radar operators, and a B-52 bomber crew at Minot Air Force Base reported an object with bright lights maneuvering near the base and its Minuteman missile silos over roughly 90 minutes, with the sighting corroborated by ground and airborne radar returns.
Assessment
The case is one of the most detailed multi-witness, radar-corroborated military UFO reports of the Cold War era. Declassified case documentation shows Air Force investigators were unable to identify a conventional cause, and the incident is frequently cited alongside other missile-base sightings as raising possible national-security concerns distinct from the broader extraterrestrial question.
