| Location | Berwyn Mountains, Wales, UK |
| Type | Sighting / Crash claim |
| Status | Likely misidentification |
Residents near the Berwyn range reported a loud bang, a ground tremor, and unusual lights the same night, giving rise to local rumors of a crashed UFO and a subsequent military cordon, sometimes dubbed “Britain’s Roswell” prior to the later Rendlesham case claiming that title.
Assessment
Seismological records confirm a genuine, moderate earthquake occurred in the area that night, and a bright meteor was independently reported over the UK around the same time; the combination of a real earthquake and a coincidental meteor is generally accepted by researchers as sufficient explanation, though local UFO proponents maintain aspects of the military response remain unexplained.
