Walt Andrus was an American engineer who served as international director of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) for over three decades, building the volunteer-run organization into one of the largest civilian UFO case-investigation networks in the world.
Assessment
Andrus’s organizational leadership is credited with professionalizing volunteer field-investigation standards within civilian ufology, even as MUFON’s case conclusions, drawn from volunteer investigators of varying background, have received mixed assessments from outside researchers.
