Philip J. Corso was a retired U.S. Army colonel whose 1997 book claimed that, as an Army intelligence officer, he had personally overseen the distribution of alien technology recovered from the Roswell incident to American defense contractors, crediting this program with the development of technologies including fiber optics and integrated circuits.
Assessment
Historians and even many ufologists have found Corso’s specific claims largely unsupported by any documentary evidence, and several of his stated dates and organizational details have been shown to be inconsistent with the historical record; his book is generally regarded as one of the most disputed sources in Roswell-related literature.
