The Pantex Plant, northeast of Amarillo, Texas, is the primary U.S. site for assembling, disassembling and maintaining nuclear weapons. Built as an ordnance plant in World War II, it has handled nuclear weapons since 1951 and is operated for the Department of Energy‘s National Nuclear Security Administration.[1]
UAP incident
On September 1, 2015, an unidentified object entered the airspace over Pantex. PURSUE released an enhanced image from a ground surveillance radar tower (Release 02) and the full incident report (Release 04). The case is listed as unresolved; small drones were a frequent problem at nuclear sites in that period.[2]
