Robert Powell is an American aerospace engineer and researcher whose detailed technical analysis of the Nimitz “Tic Tac” encounter, drawing on radar and witness data, has become one of the most widely cited scientific reference treatments of the case.
Assessment
Powell has helped organize scientifically minded research collaborations bringing together credentialed engineers and physicists, including work alongside Kevin Knuth, in an effort to apply peer-reviewable analytical standards to a field often criticized for lacking them.
