Jim Penniston is a retired U.S. Air Force security police sergeant who reported approaching and physically touching a triangular craft with markings during the initial night of the Rendlesham Forest incident in December 1980, alongside fellow airman John Burroughs.
Assessment
Penniston’s initial contemporaneous report is treated as credible and consistent with Charles Halt‘s later corroborating documentation; his considerably more elaborate claims of downloaded binary code and additional memories, recovered decades later through hypnosis, are treated with greater scientific caution given the well-documented unreliability of hypnotically recovered memory.
