Jean-Jacques Velasco is a French aerospace engineer who directed GEIPAN, the French space agency’s official UFO study unit, for over two decades, overseeing investigation of cases including the Valensole Case.
Assessment
After retiring, Velasco published books arguing more directly for the extraterrestrial hypothesis than his official reports had, a shift some former GEIPAN colleagues have said blurred the line between his institutional role and personal conviction.
