Lavender farmer Maurice Masse reported encountering an egg-shaped craft on legs in his field along with two small humanoid beings, who allegedly paralyzed him briefly with a device before departing. Investigators found a depression and marks in the soil consistent with his description.
Assessment
French gendarmerie and later GEIPAN investigators found Masse to be a credible and consistent witness over decades of re-interview, and physical traces at the site were considered unusual, though not conclusive of an extraordinary origin. The case remains formally classified by GEIPAN in its highest “unexplained” category (Type D).
