The University of Colorado UFO Project (Condon Committee)‘s final report concluded that further extensive study of UFOs could not be justified in the expectation that science would thereby be advanced, a summary conclusion the Air Force cited when closing Project Blue Book the following year.
Controversy
A leaked internal memo suggesting the study’s outcome was predetermined, combined with the case-by-case appendix leaving roughly 30% of examined cases unexplained despite the dismissive summary conclusion, has made the report itself a recurring subject of methodological criticism from researchers who argue its top-line finding did not fairly represent its own underlying data.
