| Location | Boianai, Papua New Guinea |
| Type | Mass sighting |
| Investigation | |
| Key witness | Rev. William Booth Gill, Anglican missionary |
| Status | Unexplained |
Anglican missionary Father William Gill and up to three dozen local mission residents reported an extended, detailed observation over two nights of a disc-shaped craft with humanoid figures visible on a deck-like upper structure, with Gill stating the figures appeared to respond to his group’s waving.
Assessment
Gill was regarded by investigators as an unusually credible, detail-oriented witness with no apparent motive to fabricate, and the sighting’s duration and multiple corroborating witnesses make it one of the most cited humanoid-observation cases in ufology; no conventional explanation involving known aircraft, astronomical objects, or atmospheric phenomena has been considered fully satisfactory, and the case remains formally unexplained.
