| Key witnesses | Members of the Sutton and Taylor families |
| Status | Unexplained |
Members of an extended rural family reported being besieged for several hours overnight by small, silver-skinned, large-eyed creatures that approached their farmhouse repeatedly despite being fired upon with shotguns and rifles, prompting the family to call local police, who found bullet-riddled screens but no other physical evidence.
Assessment
Investigating police officers found the family credibly frightened and not obviously hoaxing; skeptics have proposed the creatures were owls (whose reflective eyes and defensive behavior can appear unusual under stress and gunfire at night) or an elaborate prank, though family members maintained their account for decades and the case remains among the most frequently cited unexplained entity encounters in American ufology.
